Take advantage of the DUMAVA grant

More and more tennis and padel clubs want to make their sports grounds more sustainable. Not only to reduce energy costs, but also to meet the increasing demands of municipalities, sports associations and members. The DUMAVA grant (Sustainable Social Real Estate) in 2025 offers another unique opportunity to realise sustainable measures, with a substantial contribution from the government.

What is the DUMAVA grant?
DUMAVA is a subsidy scheme of the RVO (National Agency for Entrepreneurship in the Netherlands) specifically intended for social property, such as sports facilities. As a tennis or padel club, do you own your own grounds or premises? Then you can be reimbursed up to 30% of the sustainability costs. With an integral sustainability plan, this can amount to as much as 50% of the project costs.

This makes it an ideal arrangement to take big steps towards a future-proof sports facility.

Which measures are covered by DUMAVA?
DUMAVA allows you to make various sustainable investments, for example:

  • Insulation of roofs, walls and floors
  • Solar panels and solar water heaters
  • Heat pumps or other energy-efficient heating systems
  • LED lighting for indoor and outdoor courts
  • Green roofs or facades
  • Energy advice and a sustainable long-term maintenance plan (DMJOP)

For tennis and padel clubs, this means not only making the clubhouse or changing rooms more sustainable, but also replacing or improving lighting and installations around the courts.

Why is sustainability so important for sports clubs?
Energy costs for sports clubs have risen sharply in recent years. At the same time, members and municipalities expect more and more in terms of sustainability. By investing in energy-efficient solutions now, you can:

  • Structural savings on energy costs
  • Contribute to the sustainability goals of your municipality and sports association
  • Making the accommodation more attractive and comfortable for members
  • Increasing the value of your sports park and future-proofing it

What are the conditions?
To make use of the DUMAVA grant, you must meet a number of conditions as an association:

  • You own the property (tenants do not qualify)
  • The work will be carried out by an approved installer
  • You submit the grant application before the work starts
  • The investment is a minimum of €5,000
  • The application period for 2025 closes on 31 October - but beware, the budget is limited and often runs out quickly!

Tips for a successful application

  • Prepare your application well with clear quotes, plans and construction drawings
  • Work with your local council, sports association or a local energy cooperative for extra support
  • Combine DUMAVA with other schemes such as BOSA or SDE++ for maximum benefit

Conclusion: seize this opportunity!
The DUMAVA subsidy is the opportunity for tennis and padel clubs to make their sports facilities more sustainable at a reduced cost. You not only save on energy costs, but also invest in a greener, future-proof and more attractive accommodation for your members.
