Pickleball is a dynamic and accessible racket sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. The game is played on a rectangular pitch measuring 6.1 by 13.4 metres, about one second the size of a padel court. The court is divided by a net and the game is played with a pickleball racket and a plastic ball with holes.
Serve
- Serveren gebeurt onderhands met beide voeten achter de servicelijn
- De serve moet diagonaal naar het servicevak van de tegenstander gaan
- De serveerbeurt wisselt tussen het linker en rechter servicevak
- De bal mag niet stuiteren voor het serveren en moet zonder fouten geslagen worden
- Bij het serveren mag de bal niet in de ''non-volleyzone'' terechtkomen
Points
The scoring for pickleball game rules is as follows:
- Punten kunnen alleen worden gescoord door het serverende team
- Een wedstrijd wordt meestal gespeeld tot 11 punten, met minimaal 2 punten verschil om te winnen
- Een wedstrijd bestaat uit 2 of 3 gewonnen games
- Na een game wordt er gewisseld van speelhelft
- In toernooien kunnen variaties zijn, zoals spelen tot 15 of 21 punten
Non-volley zone
At pickleball, there is a non-volley zone:
- Deze zone bevindt zich 2,1 meter van het net aan beide kanten
- Spelers mogen geen volley slaan in deze zone
- Als je het net raakt, gaat het punt naar de tegenstander
- The zone may only be entered to play a ball that has bounced first.
Further rules
- You may also return the ball outside the net, even below net height
- Ieder team mag per game twee time-outs van 30 seconden houden
- Tussen de games is er maximaal 2 minuten rust
- Plakballen of zonder intentie dubbelraken in één beweging is toegestaan
- Je beslist over in en uit op jouw speelhelft, bij twijfel beslis je in het voordeel van de tegenpartij
- Ballen die je niet zeker als ‘ uit’ hebt gezien worden als ‘in’ beschouwd (dus geen let).
