Converting a korfball court into a padel court

Boost your korfball club with the fastest-growing sport in the Netherlands

Korfball occupies a unique place in the Dutch sporting world, but many clubs have been feeling the same pressures for years: membership numbers that are slowly declining, young people opting for other sports, and a sports ground that is often quiet on weekdays. At the same time, there is a growing padel like never beforesociable, accessible and appealing to precisely the target group that korfball clubs are keen to attract: young adults, families and active people in their thirties. Converting a korfball pitch – or part of it – into padel courts For an increasing number of clubs, this is not just a spatial project, but a strategic choice for the future. A korfball pitch is circa 800 one square metre smaller than a football or hockey pitch, but still spacious enough for three to four padel courts. What you’ll get is a new influx of members, extra canteen takings and a club that will still be going strong in ten years’ time.

Padel as a way to attract new members to korfball clubs

For korfball clubs, this works padel in two ways at once: it attracts a new target group who would otherwise never visit the sports ground, and it keeps existing korfball players involved with the club for longer. Players who give up korfball due to injuries or age find in padel a sport they can continue to play well into their fifties. Former members are returning, new members are joining, and the clubhouse is filling up again on evenings when it used to remain empty.

STEP FOR STEP

This is how we’ll turn your korfball club into a vibrant multi-sports park.

We are assessing the site, the current usage of the korfball pitch and the board’s requirements. Based on this, we will advise on how many padel courts how they fit in and how the korfball capacity is maintained.

We handle the planning permission process with the local authority and carry out acoustic assessments where necessary. We also advise on the impact on the sports ground’s operations and any potential collaboration with other clubs.

We are implementing the padel courts Complete: groundworks, foundations, sports surface, cage, glass walls, lighting and artificial turf. Delivered and inspected, ready for use, ready for the first padel- an evening at the korfball ground.

FROM THE INITIAL IDEA TO THE OPEN DAY

For many korfball clubs, the addition of padel a significant step. It is not just a minor expansion, but a change in the way the club presents itself to the outside world. Allesvoorpadel understands those dynamics and guides you carefully, From the initial consultation right through to well after completion. Whether you’re a club committee, a local authority keen to contribute ideas, or an entrepreneur looking to run the sports complex: we’ll take care of the whole process.

What we can take off your hands

We develop the design, handle the planning permission process – including an acoustic assessment – and build the entire padel courts. After that, we remain involved through our maintenance service, which ensures that the courts continue to perform at the highest standard for many years to come, a key requirement for the sound running of a club. One point of contact, one plan, one result.

CONVERTING A KORFBALL PITCH INTO A PADEL COURT

A new sport, new members, a livelier sports park.

FROM A KORFBALL PARK TO A VIBRANT MULTISPORTS PARK

The addition of padel will fundamentally change the character of your sports park: from a venue that is quiet during the week to one that is used seven days a week. We can help you complete that transformation. As well as the courts themselves, we supply padel canopies for year-round play and noise reduction of up to 30 dB, and a padel kiosk for reception and hire services. With our padel maintenance machines and the Allesvoorpadel maintenance contract, we keep all padel courts in top condition for years to come.

WAITING IS NOT AN OPTION – TIME IS RUNNING OUT FOR KORFBAL

Korfball clubs that are now making the switch to padel have a significant head start. They’re attracting padel enthusiasts from far and wide, breathing new life into the clubhouse and building a club model that will still be working in ten years’ time. If you wait too long, there’s a good chance that a commercial padel club or a neighbouring tennis club will beat you to it, and then your club will be fishing in a much smaller pond. The same applies to local authorities and sports foundations: a korfball complex that operates below capacity costs money every year. By adding padel, you create a sports venue that is used throughout the day, operates more profitably and is more attractive to the local community. It is an investment that, in many cases, more than pays for itself.

WE BUILD, MAINTAIN AND FACILITATE PADEL FUN.

How many padel courts can fit on a korfball pitch?

On a korfball pitch at three to four padel courtn, depending on the layout and the extension. With a partial conversion, you can often retain space for two to three courts whilst continuing to use the court for korfball.

Not necessarily. Many clubs opt for a partial conversion, whereby the korfball capacity is largely retained. For clubs with several pitches, one pitch can be converted entirely to padel, whilst the remaining pitches will remain available for korfball.

In many cases, a conversion fits within a tennis club's existing zoning plan, making the process smoother. Nevertheless, an environmental permit is almost always required, especially if the site is close to homes. An acoustic study is then usually required. Allesvoorpadel can club guidance in the entire licencestraject or, for example, flora and fauna surveys or light pollution surveys.

Reactions vary, but a transparent process with good communication is crucial. We recommend holding a members’ meeting prior to the decision, so that support for the proposal and any concerns can be raised at an early stage.

Yes, for almost every padel court An environmental permit is required. The local authority assesses compliance with the local development plan, noise levels and traffic. Allesvoorpadel guides it the entire licensing process.
